Finally Settled
Wow I’m totally behind on posting this week. It’s been pretty hectic moving in, but I’ve got some fun stories to tell. So Moving Day was last Friday, and while nothing went according to plan, things went rather smoothly. Our landlord told us we could start moving in first thing in the morning, but what she neglected to tell us was that they still had to clean the apartment. The last tenants skipped out on her, and the place was a wreck!
So instead of moving in right away we had to kill a few hours in order for at least one of the rooms to be clean so we could put boxes and furniture in there as they were cleaning the rest of the apartment. We finally got our first load into the car and ready to be unpacked when my brother in law needed to meet us at his house, which is about an hour there and back out of the way.
By the time noon rolled around two of our friends finally got back with us, and were able to come and help us move for a few hours. After hauling several boxes upstairs we started looking at easier options of getting everything to the upstairs apartment. I have about 15 feet of rope that ended up getting used for many purposes. Check out the video below to see how. My roommate is at the top, the other guy is a mutual friend Scott, and you can hear my voice at the very beginning as well as my giggling.
We hauled about a dozen boxes using the rope, along with both box spring mattresses, laundry baskets, and groceries. It was quite funny, as our neighbors looked at us like we were crazy. The most difficult thing to pull up was our half server rack. That actually took all three of us, two pulling from the top and the other pushing from the bottom.

As you can see we have it set up in our kitchen. We have 7 servers, a UPS, and a KVM switch (built in keyboard, monitor, mouse.) We have absolutely no idea what we’re gonna do with all of them, but they look so awesome in the rack. I have to say the place is looking pretty awesome. We haven’t moved the cats over yet, but we are doing that later today. I’ll have more pictures once the place is unpacked!
