Animals
Name: Tendo Akane
Age: Seven years (best guess)
Gender: Female
Nickname(s): Foxy
Akane was given to me on my 19th birthday. Rescued from the shelter, she’s been such a great dog. Akane loves running around, patrolling the back yard, and sitting in my lap. Currently Akane resides with my mom as the house guard dog. My mom lives in the country, so it’s nice to know she has someone to protect her. Some of Akane’s more quirky habits include shying away from men, hiding her dog treats, and eating one bite of food at a time. She’s fairly subdued most of the time, but easily riled into a frenzy. Usually those culminate with her running around the pool three times for good measure, around your legs, and directly into your lap. She doesn’t really lick, but she is always nosing you to pet her. Akane was directly named from Ranma 1/2, a Japanese anime. You can read more about her namesake here.
Name: Kotton Ball
Age: Four years
Gender: Male
Nickname(s): Krotton, KB
I’m a sucker for strays, and when I saw this cute little boy all by himself on the road I had to pick him up. Kotton was about four weeks old when I found him. Sadly a car killed his mother. He was all alone and running for his life. Kotton is the oldest of our two cats. He absolutely loves just being around us. He comes when called, and just loves attention. Some of his favorite things to do are taking walks outside, sleeping under the covers, and hitting the catnip mouse. By far our most playful cat Kotton does really well when new animals are brought inside. He adapts very quickly. Kotton and I have been through hell and back together. He’s made it through a few boyfriends, a major move, and countless heartbreaks, tribulations, and trials. He’s always there for me.
Name: Wee Man
Age: Three years
Gender: Male
Nickname(s): Weezer, Weemeister
What to say about Wee Man. He’s the resident whiner. Always crying, and usually for no reason. I found Weezer in the newspaper. He was about six weeks old when we adopted him. Initially he was the smallest cat in the house, being the runt of his litter. Now he’s the biggest cat. Ever see Of Mice and Men? When I look at him I often see Lennie… dumb and strong. Weezer loves hiding in dark places. His favorite spots are under the couch and under counters. He’s learned how to open cabinet doors on his own. Wee is nothing but a giant scaredy cat. Afraid of just about everything. Loud noises, new things, and new people send him scurrying. If you come visit us.. you probably won’t see him. He’s only comfortable around us. It’s sad though sometimes because he’s such a strong cat, I can feel it when he bumps my head with his.
Name: Scout
Age: Around six months
Gender: Male
Nickname(s): CatDog
The newest addition to the family is Scout. He was born in our apartment complex, and eventually moved in with us. Jimbo named him Scout because when he finally came inside the house he just started looking around the place. He never really was scared, only intrigued. It probably took around three months to get him used to us. We would leave food and water outside for him and his brother (and whatever neighbor hood stray that was around). Eventually they let us get close and pet them. We ended up one day just picking him up and bringing him in. Scout loves chilling out in the kitchen near the food and water. I think because he still thinks he won’t always be able to eat, so he doesn’t go far from food. He’s also picked up Weezer’s habit of hiding in the cabinets. He hasn’t figured out how to open the doors himself yet, I’m sure he’ll learn though. Scout’s extremely sweet and loves to be played with. He’s not too fond of catnip, but loves toys that make lots of noise! Sadly Scout passed away. He’ll always be in our hearts, and minds. You can see a tattoo dedicated to him here.
