Dear God

It just doesn’t seem like I can catch a break. Things had been going really well. Jimbo and I moved into the new apartment, and the minor issues we were having have been fixed. Work started mandatory over time, which was a bonus because we were looking for extra hours anyways.

That’s when things went downhill. Saturday, we went into work, and they told us that the internet was down here, and to go to our old building. So we drive to the old building which is about 15 minutes away, we get there and our boss tells us the internet is back up, to go back to the new building.

We get to the new building, log into the phones, and start taking calls. We’re there for less than an hour when my supervisor tells me that the manager needs to see me. I walked in there, and our assistant manager is in there, and he says we’re waiting on the manager.

Our manager finally comes in, and they’ve got this almost smug look on their faces, and I have NO clue what they are about to tell me. My manager says to me, we had to fire Jimbo, but I wanted to let you know that this doesn’t affect your job in anyway.

I couldn’t freaking believe it. So now, I’m short one income, and I’ve got no clue how I’m going to make my bills. So I came into work on Monday, and asked for a raise. I figured they would turn me down (and they did), so my next step was to ask for more overtime. I’m officially going to work 12 hour days, 5 days a week.

Hopefully I won’t have to do that for too long, just until Jimbo finds a new job. He’s got a couple of interviews already lined up (thanks to my brother in law). I probably won’t be blogging much the next few months, but you can always email and send me comments

EDIT: 08/08/08 Jimbo got a job! It’s only 10 hours a week, but it pays 15 bucks an hour, and there is room for him to get more hours, and bring in his own clients. He’s basically doing home networks, setting up routers and basic pc maintenance. I’ll still be doing over time til he gets at least 20… but at least it didn’t take him several months like it did last time!

Oh no, why did they fire him? That’s horrible, and a horrible way to fine out. I think if really had no bearing on YOUR job, they wouldn’t have told you like that. So I’d watch your back there, just in case. It’s good they are letting you work over time though, my work doesn’t allow that. So best of luck to you and I hope you don’t tire yourself out too badly working all those hours. Hopefully Jimbo will get a job soon so you won’t have to work that much.

It’s good to hear that he found a job, but I hope everything works out eventually so you don’t need to work overtime anymore. Good luck!

It’s good that he was able to find a new job. At least you guys won’t have any problems with your bills, right? :)

It sucks so much when you get fired and have bill problems.
Jimbo got a job quite soon, which is very nice. Good luck with your bills and jobs!

I’m glad that you got that second income back! I know how hard it can be sometimes on just one income.

  9. Mimi

Well, good thing he got that job! Sounds pretty awesome. In regards to them telling you that it wouldn’t affect your job, no poop. Legally it can’t affect your job, so what was the point of them saying that? Sometimes I just don’t get people. :( At least things are looking up now! :)

I’m glad to hear that he got a job. I know it does seem like life is really harder sometimes than it should be, and it probably is. I think the reason God gives us these little challenges is to remind us to appreciate the good things. I mean I could be wrong. I wonder why they fired him in the first place…

Working 60 hours a week will be really hard on you probably, so I hope his hours increase soon or he gets to bring in those extra clients for extra money. Fifteen an hour is decent though, so at least he’s making a good wage.

Hope everything continues to get better for you.

I’m glad to hear that he got a job! That’s really good. I’m dealing with the same thing with my husband. We worked at the same place and they took me in and let me know that they let him go..

Thats great that he got a job so quick, hopefully you won’t get any money trouble.

Seems like you’ve had some trying times lately. Glad to hear he got a job at least you have some second income coming in! Just remember everything happens for a reason and God will never give us more then we can handle. Hope you won’t have to work 12 hour days too much longer that has to be pretty hard on you.

That really sucks that he lost his job, but also really awesome that he found a new one so quickly. Hopefully something good comes out of it all and soon he’ll pick up more hours and you wont have to do so much overtime, but at least it’s a temporary solution for now and you’re not left floundering in money issues.

Things will pick up soon, hopefully! :)
