Oh… My… God

Forgive me if this post is a bit incoherent and rambling. The past two weeks have been absolutely crazy. Today’s been the first day I’ve been able to just sit down and relax and not have to think. Please stick with me as this is quite a long post.

So the downward spiral begins on the 23rd. As Jimbo (my husband) and I are leaving for work we see a note on our door. It’s a notice that they are coming in to inspect the apartment on the 25th. Now I’m not going to go into any detail on exactly why, but let’s just say it’s about having 2 cats, and not paying a deposit.

Well our apartment is usually somewhat of a wreck, and we had to at least clean the front part of our one bedroom apartment. The front consist of the living room and the dining room. So by the time we get the notice we’ve last all of Monday morning and mid afternoon. We don’t get home til midnight and we have to work Tuesday as well.

Keep in mind that on the 24th my mom (who is 61 years old) is going into surgery for a knee replacement. We managed to get the front presentable and go to vacuum and it’s not picking anything up. The band is broken. So we replace the band turn it on and the it starts smoking. We don’t have time to figure out what the heck is wrong. So we sweep the hell out of the carpet.

I think I got about 4 hours sleep before I headed to the hospital to do my shift of staying with her there. Jimbo stayed behind for the walk through. I’m at the hospital and I call Jimbo to see what’s going on and he said the inspection never happened the woman didn’t even come inside. Apparently she raised cane because I wasn’t there. It didn’t matter that my mom was in the hospital.

I came home the following Thursday exhausted. I didn’t get a wink of sleep at the hospital. Anyways that day goes smoothly enough, I think I can relax. Friday rolls around and I get up early to pick my mom up from the hospital, take her home and stay the night with her. I walk out the door, and there’s another one of those notes hanging off our door. It’s a notice that we have 14 days to vacate the premises. We have been evicted.

We get in the car and head to the hospital. I’m freaking out, because we don’t have the money to come up with a deposit and transfer utilities and all that shit. So I’m thinking maybe we can get an advance from work, or possibly a loan from my brother in law. I call my mom to let her know we are on the way and she tells me my sister’s called and it’s very important that I call her.

So now I’m wondering what is wrong over there way. I give my sister a ring and I find out that my brother in law’s mother has passed away. I tell them that I have to take my mom home (who lives 45 minutes one way), but that I’ll come over to their place as soon as I can.

We drive to my mom’s get all the way there and realize that we left her walker at the hospital and there is no way she can walk from the car, to the steps and up them with out it. In the end my mom used this little fold up table as a walker and got inside.

I ended up calling off two days of work (Saturday and Sunday) and spent the entire weekend with my sister and brother in law. We looked at apartments, got numbers and pretty much stayed drunk.

Monday comes around and we begin the process. We looked at some apartments, and filled out applications. My brother in law loaned us money to help with the deposits and everything. Well the first thing we had to be done was the credit check, and we didn’t have the money to let several places run one. We basically picked the best deal and ran with it hoping we wouldn’t be denied.

We get the application in Tuesday before work, after we drove all the way to my mom’s to pick up a check so we could pay for the credit check. They tell us, “We’ll call you in an hour or first thing in the morning.” It took until Wednesday at 4pm before we got the answer that we’ve been approved and can start the process on getting the apartment.

So today we paid the deposit and rent, paid to get water turned on and placed service orders to switch our utilities. I even reserved a U-haul truck for tomorrow. So you’re asking why am I not switching my internet or cable. Well apparently the apartment is only serviced by Hughes.net a satellite company, which is so overpriced that I refuse to pay it. I can’t even get dial up. My current provider can only get us basic extended cable (76 channels or so) for like 50 bucks a month.

Tomorrow is a long day for us. We don’t have anyone to help us move tomorrow, and we have to get everything moved by then. Our work week starts on Saturdays and we can’t afford to take anymore time off. The worst part of it is, they can’t officially turn on our water or electricity until Monday. Once the bed goes that’s where we have to sleep, so the weekend is going to be long and hot.

I still won’t be able to really relax until my next off day which is Wednesday. I feel better now that I’ve ranted, and the worst is really over. I don’t know when I’ll post next, I might find some time at work. Maybe I’ll get lucky and somebody will have an unsecured network lol. Hopefully I’ll be back soon. I still plan on renewing the domain in August, even if I won’t have internet at home. It’s only a year lol.
